Yogurt..?!?!

I hate yogurt. I wish I liked it. I wish I liked it because it is good for your immune system; it is a solid breakfast and it is good in Mediterranean soups and rice dishes, and apparently it is easy to make home-made. So easy, in fact, that I accidentally made some in my own refrigerator with my beloved raw cream. Twice.

I bought one pint of organic heavy whipping cream from the market that expired that particular day, expecting to use it later for baking. Well, I got distracted and did not bake anymore and completely forgot about the pint of heavy cream. A few days ago I curiously pulled it out and put it up to my nose and, well, I smelled yogurt. Once I glugged it down the drain I SAW yogurt. Is this right? Is that really yogurt?

Second. My little baby jar of raw cream is still half full. I just cannot use it fast enough for only myself and no one else in my house drinks coffee, and now it too is starting to sour. And clump...yogurt. I thought you had to heat the milk to make yogurt, and I am not entirely sure that it WAS yogurt, but I am pretty sure it was a close variation. Just some food for thought (!) and something to explore and learn. Does anyone know?

  1. Yeah. You've got to heat milk and add live cultures to make yogurt. Sorry, you've just got naughty cream...
