beer bread:
3 c. all purpose flour (I used 1/2 King Arthur Organic Whole Wheat, 1/2 King Arthur Unbleached White)
1 T granulated sugar
1/2 t salt
1 T baking powder
12 oz. beer
bake at 375 for ~40 minutes in an 8-inch loaf pan
first round: I used Sam Adams' Boston Lager plus 2 cloves minced garlic, 1 t dried oregano and 1 t dried basil and parmesan. Result= good, but a weird bitterness and way too much garlic
second round: added 1 T honey and used Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout. I was really pulling for this one since it would be less flavorful- it bites you on the back of the tongue with a sharp bitterness. yuck.
*Edit: actually bread made with the stout is excellent warm with lots of butter.
